Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Left the Light On ("the service"), operated by Adam Myhre (the "operator"). By subscribing or using the service you agree to them.
1. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old. By using the service you confirm that you are.
2. What it is – and is not
The service plays spoken audio from fictional characters generated by artificial intelligence. The voices are synthetic; no real person is speaking to you. The service is for companionship and entertainment. It is not a medical, mental-health, counselling or emergency service and must not be relied on as one. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number, Samaritans (116 123 in the UK) or 988 (US).
3. Content boundary
The service is companion-only. Characters are warm and at most lightly flirtatious; they do not produce sexually explicit content, and attempts to obtain it will be declined. You agree not to use the service to generate, request or distribute explicit, abusive or illegal content, or to harass, impersonate or exploit anyone.
4. Subscription, trial and cancellation
Access costs US $5.99 per month after a 7-day free trial. A payment method is required to start the trial; you will not be charged if you cancel before it ends. Billing is handled by Stripe and renews monthly until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through "Manage subscription"; access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable.
5. Your access code
After checkout you are shown an access code that signs you in on other devices. Keep it private. You are responsible for use of the service by anyone you share it with. Contact the operator if you believe it has been compromised and it will be invalidated.
6. Fair use
To keep the service affordable there are limits on how often audio can be played. We may suspend accounts that attempt to circumvent these limits, scrape the service or interfere with its operation.
7. Intellectual property
The characters, text, audio and design of the service belong to the operator or its licensors. You may listen for personal, non-commercial use only and may not record, redistribute or resell the audio.
8. Availability and changes
The service is provided "as is". We aim for high availability but do not guarantee it, and we may change or withdraw features. If we withdraw the service entirely we will refund any unused portion of the current billing period.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we hold and your rights.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
